On Narcissism

Slow your roll, there, Narcissus, for it is not your own reflection that you are admiring in the water, but merely a dead fish that kinda looks like you.

My last goal

All I want to do is give the young ones something they can use.

Thriller novel idea

Scenario: Lots of conflict in international relations (as in here and now). All eyes are focused on a high-tech international yacht race, where corporate and national teams are showcasing (or secretly using to cheat) all the latest technology, much of which is bound up in international IP disputes that have become campaign slogans and diplomatic bargaining chips.  Support crews, news teams, naval vessels from many countries all hover at a distance around the periphery of lead boats on the blue water ocean, as they pass through a region  of international territorial dispute, watching the race go neck and neck in a competition that has gained worldwide attention and fixation. Lot of tension and finger pointing about how close observers are allowed to get. Virtually everyone in the world has a personal stake in the race, be it nationalism or fanatic brand identity. Hooligans trash talk and fight in the streets about the likely outcome. At least three different naval powers ...

End vs means

You say the ends justify the means But that’s just picking the lesser of two evils  Because I can’t tell which is is worse Where you’re going or how you’re getting there

Internet vigilante

It’s not enough that the good guys win. The bad guys must also lose.

Hear me now, believe me later...

The next weaponized disinformation campaign bullshit story to go viral will center around an attack on the legitimacy of the Constitution itself, based on the false assertion that the Organic Act of 1871 (which is part of the admittedly weird history of the District of Columbia) somehow turned the United States into a shell corporation. Hopefully, any friend of objective reality will stay calm in the face of this assertion and see it for what it is: a deliberate attempt to foment chaos by manipulation of the gullible. https://www.distractify.com/p/what-is-happening-on-march-4-2021

Thoughts

“Privileger” vs. “Villager” (e.g. villagers mobbed outside the castle with pitchforks and torches) (cf. “White Privileger” on Urban Dictionary) “Privillager” Visual juxtaposition: one hand on a computer keyboard (reason) the other on a piano keyboard (compassion) The constant stream of glorious thoughts flow past, in and out of my mind with no capture, like a river of golden fish and no net or hook to catch them. It’s beautiful to watch as I sit motionless, penniless and hungry. What if the next weaponized disinformation campaign attacked our trust in the validity of public key infrastructure and its underpinning number theory concepts, based on a distinction that almost nobody really understands, but is argued to be of no practical consequence. Uncertainty surrounds the issue like with the Y2K bug, where nobody agrees a priori on how big the problem really is, but everyone plays defense with their workarounds. Suppose browser makers and root certificate issuers become politically...

On Tokenism

"Let me tell you about my black friend," You said as you pulled out the photo Taken at a party before the lockdown, When bros could put their arms Over each other's shoulders Hold up their drinks And pose for social media. The photo shows you leaning on him Like maybe you'd had too much to drink. The photo doesn't show That you had just met him that night, And haven't spoken since That time when you told him What you really thought about black people, About how you knew He was one of the best kind. It was dark and loud then And he wasn't exactly sure what You were talking about, So you assumed he agreed When he smiled and nodded And offered you another drink, Because he thought You might feel less awkward If you had something else besides talking To do with your mouth. You lean on him in the photo Like you lean on him Whenever you need to demonstrate How woke you are, And that you know what The better black people think. You pull out the photo And lay it o...

A cynic argues with people of straw* *”Yeah, sure, not all straw man arguments come from males, but trust me, ladies, you don’t want to be a part of this”, he said with chauvinistic condescension.

Using disposable masks for contact tracing.

People go to school or the mall and are given a disposable mask which is uniquely identified and associated with the person in a database. They do school or walk around the mall for a couple hours or whatever. When they’re done with the mask, it gets put into a special recepticle. The discarded masks are then tested, and positive tests followed up on.

Social interaction app

People show up to an event with their masks. They take about 6 selfie’s from different angles without the mask, sixish with the mask. The selfie’s get uploaded in the app. When they view someone through the app, it does facial recognition on the masked face and overlays the unmasked facial image over the masked face in the app.
